Portraits of War

On April 15th 2023 war broke out in Sudan. A conflict that has collapsed the entire country and is proving to be a civilatory cleanse. We are witnessing what could be the end of the Sudanese civilization as we know it, leaving millions displaced and tens of thousands of dead. The following works were created with the thoughts and emotions of war. In early 2023 I was approached by Factum Arte Foundation in Madrid to visit their installations and perhaps work together. This was accelerated by the conflict since I was kicked out of my country to my second country Spain. They received me with open arms and with the knowledge that creation would both ease my pain, but also produce work that would critically reflect this abhorrent catastrophe. These are the faces, in some case traces of a population in a forgotten war.

Made in collaboration with Factum Arte and Mike Ward, Madrid.
